What is Be the Change?
Be the Change, formerly known as National Gandhi Day of Service, is an annual national day of service to inspire and foster civic engagement through volunteerism and community service. Every year, hundreds of individuals participate in community service nationwide in the spirit of Gandhi's most famous quote, "Be the change you wish to see in the world." In 2008, Be the Change, will occur on Saturday, October 4th.

The theme of Be the Change 08 is "Solidarity in Service" - which reflects the way in which public service can build coalitions, deepen relationships, and bring about solidarity among people of different backgrounds. Be the Change 2008 will be an opportunity for individuals around the United States to engage in collective public service activities that will lead to further collaboration, civic engagement, and unity.

How can I get involved?
Be the Change will occur in the core cities on Washington, D.C., New York, Chicago and the Bay Area. Planning teams in these areas are putting together events that will allow community members, students and professionals to volunteer and enhance the solidarity within their city. If you live in these areas and would like to participate, register to volunteer and please look below for the contact information of each city. Please contact them if you are interested in participating in Be the Change 2008!
